Program Description

Students participating in Naropa's Bhutan Study Abroad program will spend a semester studying at the Royal University of Bhutan, fully immersed in Bhutanese culture, experiencing the arts, spirituality, sustainable practices, mythology, education, and extraordinary landscapes. Naropa University is the only western university in the world to be in partnership with the Royal University of Bhutan, making this a truly unique opportunity.

In addition to classes taken at RUB, students will work with a Naropa faculty member to complete an Independent Study project and courses focused on the traditional and modern culture of Bhutan. This program will appeal to students interested in a wide variety of subjects including environmental studies, traditional arts, education, religious studies, philosophy and intercultural studies.

Program highlights

Students participating in the Bhutan Study Abroad program will spend the first three weeks of the program in an orientation program that includes traveling to historical and cultural sites throughout Bhutan.
