Program Description

Enjoy the rural calm and beauty of Puntarenas while having access to major festivals and events in the capital. This is a beach area which was a major seaport, but now serves as a major tourist destination. The wet months are primarily from May to October while the dry season is from November to April. You will have the opportunity to explore beaches and enjoy all that this region has to offer.

With easy ferry access, students in Puntarenas can visit Nicoya, a breathtaking area for pristine beaches and rich culture. This is an ideal study abroad opportunity for students who are outdoor enthusiasts. Puntarenas is particularly suited to bike travel and it is easy to purchase a used bike when you arrive.
