Program Description

Explore Morocco with this program as you navigate the countryside of the Atlas Mountains. You will be able to use your Arabic language abilities to negotiate the bustling bazaars. Morocco is an intersection between the Middle East, Africa, and Europe and has a rich and vibrant culture. Take this time to volunteer your time in service-oriented work. You will work as an intern with a local non-governmental organization that is working to improve youth engagement, environmental issues, and education challenges.

Join the Semester of Service in Morocco as you combine a rigorous academic course with an NGO internship. You will be able to study at the al-Akhawayn University and earn 13 to 16 credits that will transfer to the College of New Jersey through this study abroad opportunity.

Program highlights

- Earn 9 to 12 credits of Arabic along with 2 to 3 other courses in Middle Eastern Studies, International Relations, or Political Science

- Join an internship and earn 4 credits by spending 10 to 15 hours each week with an NGO that specializes in youth empowerment, environmental conservation, and education growth. Program participants can teach French or English or be a part of a range of other initiatives.

- The opportunity to gain the Certificate in Citizen Diplomacy with America’s Unofficial Ambassadors
