"A Semester in Hawaii" at the University of Hawaii at Manoa

Program Description

Study away in Hawaii for a unique academic experience. Explore a multi-cultural community in a beautiful island setting unlike any place else. "A Semester in Hawaii" offers a study away option without the burden of visas, language barriers, and the expense of foreign travel. Students in the ASH program choose from an unparalleled array of courses on Asia, Hawaii, and the Pacific. Many of these courses and others in astronomy, geology, oceanography, and marine biology may not be found at institutions on the mainland. Students experience diverse cultures in a vibrant community and exciting, life-changing adventures on a tropical island of unsurpassed natural beauty.

"The ASH program was THE best decision of my life. Spending the semester in Hawaii, opening myself up to new experiences, and surrounding myself with new people has opened my eyes to the world and has given me not only lifelong memories and experiences, but also lifelong friends." Kerry (Wellesley College)
"My time in the ASH program at UHM gave me the opportunity to take engaging classes with highly motivating professors. I was able to meet new friends while being immersed in Hawaiiʻs warm and open aloha spirit and cultural heritage and being surrounded by its natural wonders. It was one of the most fulfilling and enriching experiences of my life, and I will remember it for years to come." Lisa (Haverford College)
