Gap Year Online at The School of The New York Times

Program Description

Whether you are a lifelong reader of The New York Times or just discovering your interest in journalism, this program is intended to be an entryway into the field. Every week, students will use sections of the newspaper to dive into an important social, cultural or global topic led by an instructor who is an expert in the field. Service Learning and Reflection projects complement these Section Studies (ex. New York, Sports, Politics, Style, Books, Opinion), helping students identify ways to give back to the community and contemplate how their understanding of the world is changing. Through mentorship, professional development sessions and life skills workshops, students will end the program with a clearer vision of their personal goals and career aspirations.
