Volunteer Teaching Sports & Physical Education

Volunteers will help local teachers and instructors in teaching physical education and sports to elementary schools around and located in San Ramon. uVolunteer has partnered with many schools to establish a stronger program for physical education. These are schools with resources that are limited so please be motivated and use your creativity in planning activities. You may work with younger children, but will primarily be with third to sixth graders.

You do not need any prior experience as an instructor, player, coach, or professional in order to participate. Just be passionate about sports and enjoy working with young adults and children. We are particularly excited about volunteers who have a background in a specific type of sports or in physical education programs. Volunteer assistant coaches generate a lot of enthusiasm and so sometimes just showing up will make sure that students are pumped about going to practice.

Your main duties include:

* Creating and planning lessons for physical education classes
* Assisting teachers with preparing for and teaching sports classes
* Assisting and participating in sporting competitions and local tournaments
* Leading sports activities
* Encouraging the children to become active in physical activities
* Educating and teaching the children about new sports
