Volunteer Abroad in Vietnam - United Planet - 6-12 months

Vietnam is known for its natural beauty and large and diverse land. Miles of sparkling coastline blend seamlessly with the Mountains that cover three-fourths of the land. Economic development is a national priority. Sports are popular in Vietnam, as is good food like Pho, spring rolls and green tea. With history dating back thousands of years, temples, historic sites and traditions abound. Temperatures that vary from extreme cold in the mountains to hot and humid in the central regions.

United Planet is the US and Canadian partner of the International Cultural Youth Exchange, or ICYE. As a volunteer in Vietnam, you will be hosted by Volunteers for Peace Vietnam, ICYE’s Vietnamese partner organization. VPV started in 2005 with the aim to promote international voluntary service as a means of cultural and educational exchange among people – for peace, friendship and understanding.

Education and English Teaching: work at primary and secondary schools, helping with the teaching of English and participating in the general running of the facility

Social Work: work with disadvantaged members of the local community, with disabled children, in an orphanage, or with local community development organizations

Healthcare: assist in local medical facilities in areas including orthopedics and rehabilitation, pediatrics, and work with the disabled. Medical experience is not necessary, but is a strong advantage and will allow the volunteer to participate fully
