Language, Culture and Development in Latin America

Program Description

This unique Spring Quarter program promotes a better understanding of contemporary Latin American culture and human development through current examples and activities that promote the understanding of the culture complexities. Students who participate in this program will learn about conceptual, historical and contemporary components of ethnicity, race, culture and different forms of discrimination, beyond racial aspects, highlighting relevant issues and documenting the challenges each country, this region, and its different peoples face in the process of addressing and achieving higher levels of sustainable human development.

Students will achieve this with our two topical courses and the Spanish language course:

Culture, Community Engagement, and Sustainable Human Development in Central America
Latin America: A Mirror of Reality through Film
Spanish Language
