Developing Leaders in Global Health Systems

The course offerings for summer 2015 are: Leadership in Public Health, Sociology of Health and Illness, Global Issues in Maternal & Child Health, and Global Health Systems (June). We also provide the opportunity for a Public Health Internship. Each course ranges from 2 to 6 credits and has its own structure.

Weekends are used for visits across the country to visit culturally significant locations. Weekend trips are part of the UGA program and are optional for all other students. They incur an additional charge.

Participants come together in Israel for learning together, developing life-long relationships from around the world, and returning home to promote best practices in health care and to develop the best health system for their own country. The goal of this program is to identify and develop the future generation of people who will lead health systems around the world.

Students will receive credits from either the University of Haifa or the University of Georgia, two internationally recognized universities that may well be applied to their home universities. International students will participate in internships whereby they will be paired with other students to work on specific projects at places like local hospitals and clinics.

The full program runs for eight weeks. Students are able to come for the 2nd half only if they wish. JUNE 18 - AUGUST 10, 2015. Only students interested in the internship or the Global Health Systems course are required to come in June. All other students can arrive for the start of their desired course in July.
