Program Description
Spain’s third largest city, Valencia is a fascinating combination of civic pride, intellectual activity, art, and history. With Aragonese, Moorish, Visigoth, and Roman traditions, there is a rich culture of architecture and art. With sailing facilities, a wharf, gorgeous beaches, and as a host to America’s Cup Valencia is a wonderful destination. Participants of this program will be able to explore prehistoric fossils, Ancient Iberian and Greek ceramics, and Velazquez, Goya, and El Greco cultural works. There is an aquarium, large park, and Palace of the Arts along with the new City of Arts & Sciences.
With restored buildings located in the historic downtown quarter, the new Study Centers of Florida State University have self-contained student apartments, a computer lab, administrative offices, classroom space, and a state-of-the-art wireless centers.
Students will be able to explore neighboring European countries, regions around Spain, Valencia and valuable elective and general requirement courses. Courses cover Business, intensive Spanish Study, Hispanic Culture, and basic Liberal Studies. We are affiliated with the Universidad Católica de Valencia and the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia for students to take science, math, and business courses while in Spain.
Program participants will be able to take part with a travel opportunity while being immersed in the local culture. Participants will go on two mandatory excursions and participate in weekly group activities. The excursions go to interesting sites and feature comfortable accommodations. There are often three-day weekends for exploration and engaging in fun activities. There is a 10 day term break in both the Fall and Spring semesters for personal travel.

• 3 to 4 day mountain, monastery, medieval castle, and river water activities in the Pyrenees
• Demonstrations and lectures in various fields of work by Spanish professionals
• State-of-the-art labs with integrated classes in the Universidad Católica and local Polytechnic University
• Excursions to biospheres, operas, theatres, local markets, historical landmarks, local archaeology sites, and Valencia Court
• Immersive experience with the Spanish language through weekly events in Club de Español
• Special events, group dinners, food tasting, tours, exchange conversation meetings, and sports events weekly
• Nature activities, interactive museum visits, historical locations, mountain walks, Requena wineries, Xátiva Castle, and Sagunto (Roman city) excursions every Friday
• 3 to 4 day excursion to Andalucía for flamenco, Córdoba, Sevilla, and Granada’s Alhambra activities
• 3 to 4 day excursion to visit the Sagrada Familia and the Dali Museum in Barcelona
• 3 to 4 day visit to surrounding areas around Madrid including Alcalá de Hernares, Salamanca, Segovia, and Toledo
