Health Care Assistant/Support Worker/Live-in care

Job Description

As a Health Care Assistant, your role is to attend to our
resident’s personal care, from getting residents ready for the
day ahead to helping with meal times. You will make sure all
their physical and emotional needs are met in a way that’s
caring, kind and respectful. In time, you will get to know our
residents individually and their families/friends so you can
find out how a resident likes to do things. They might enjoy
reading the daily newspaper with a cup of tea every day at
10am! It will be your job to know what keeps our residents
happy.
You will support individual and group based activities and will
promote independence and choice for our residents. Working
in a team with all care home staff, you will keep residents’
personal care plans up to date to ensure all staff understand
a resident’s care needs and preferences always.
Your main duties will be :
Assist customers to get up, dressing and preparing them for their day
• Washing, bathing, showering, oral care, grooming.
• Toileting, assisting with use of commode, emptying commode.
• Continence management
• Using manual handling equipment as specified.
• Working with other care professionals such as District Nurses, GPs, etc.
• Assisting with prescribed medication
• Assist customers to go to bed, including undressing and washing
• Preparation of meals and assistance with feeding
• Bed making and laundry
• To keep accurate records of care plans

As a Support Worker you will be working with individuals
and their families providing practical and emotional
support. You would be required to work in a team to
provide high quality, professional service that enables
individuals to achieve their aspirations and life goals
through support and empowerment.
The level of support will vary from daily living skills,
personal care, travelling, teaching of independent life
skills to assistance with accessing community based
activities such as going to college, work placements,
swimming and other social and leisure activities.
Your main duties will be :
• To promote independence, life skills and informed choices in accordance with the individual care plan
and to enhance inclusion in the community
• Assisting with washing, bathing, showering, oral care or grooming
• Continence management
• Using manual handling equipment as specified.
• Provide assistance with customers leisure time activities, on and off site
• Assisting with prescribed medication
• Assist customers to go to bed and wake up in the morning, including undressing or dressing and
washing
• Preparation of meals and assistance with feeding
• Support customers at appointments
• Encourage customers to participate in community events
• Be flexible, adaptive and creative in order that the response to the changing needs of customers is
appropriate

As a Live in carer your main duties will be To live in the customers home and support their daily living as
assessed by the Company. To meet the personal care and
support needs of customers in a way that respects the dignity
of the individual and promotes their independence. The care
and support provided by Care and Support Workers is
expected to include support that would reasonably be given by
members of the customer’s family and is not to include tasks
that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse.

 To assist customers who need help getting up and going to bed in the morning and evenings, including
dressing and undressing, washing, bathing and going to the toilet.
 To help customers with their mobility and with any physical disabilities, including incontinence and use of
personal aids and equipment.
 To care for customers who are temporarily sick and need bed nursing and help with feeding etc.
 To provide care and support for customers who are terminally ill.
 To help in the promotion of mental and physical activities of customers through talking, outings, reading,
writing, hobbies and recreations.
 To make and change beds, light cleaning, emptying commodes and general tidying.
 To inspect, launder and mend customers’ clothes.
 To set tables and trays, prepare and serve meals, clearing away and washing up.
 Supervision of safe food preparation and storage.
 To read and write reports and be involved in customers’ reviews as required.
 To adhere to all the Company’s policies and procedures at all times.
 To report either to the Supervisor or Care Manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances
of a customer.
 To encourage the independence of customers.
 To liaise with professionals and other agencies as required.
 To undertake any working duties as required during the night as far as is reasonably practicable.
 To effectively communicate with other Care and Support Workers allocated to the customer.
 To give emotional support as and when needed by the Customer.
 Support with appointments and reminders.
 Support with medication and promoting the customers independence to self -administer.
 Support and liaise with the customers family/carers as directed by line management.

Requirements

The candidate needs to know the English language at a medium level, experience is not required for females that apply for the Support Worker or Health care assistant, but it is required for a Live-in position. The openings we have for males require to have at least personal experience in care.

Please note that you will need to have a passport and a clear criminal record, among other documents needed. You will also need to be able to provide 2 references from your most recent 2 last jobs. If you are a student, those can be obtained by teachers or directors.
Once your file is complete and accepted by the care home that has interviewed you and made you a written offer, you will be offered a travel plan, until you will be picked up by the care home's manager ( usually from the airport or a bus/train station ) .

You will be offered a training once you start working in the UK , which will be paid as if you were working. You will be offered accommodation ( from 260 pound per month to 550 pounds per month depending on the area ). We do not ask commissions ( as we have other separate contracts with the care homes so we have no business with you :P )
