THE NEW YORKER

Program Description

Courses: Interdisciplinary Studies Grade 11 Open (IDC3O), Interdisciplinary Studies Grade 12 University Preparation (IDC4U)

The New Yorker is all about exploring the many different arts, events, and attractions that symbolize New York City at its best. Students are not required to have an arts background to enjoy this course. As this is an Interdisciplinary Studies Credit (IDC), students will experience the personal, social, and cultural elements of the arts of New York City.

Before the bus hits the road to the Big Apple, students will learn about the elements of Hip Hop and try their hand at mixing tracks with one of Toronto’s up-and-coming artists. Students can choose and create a social media profile for a world-famous artist that has hit the stage at the famed Apollo Theatre. Write a performance review after you dance the night away at a live R&B rock show at Café Wha?, where Jimi Hendrix was once the resident guitarist.
