OUTWARD BOUND CR: SURF, SERVICE & CPR (AGES 14-18)

Program Description

Spend two to eight weeks along the world-class beaches of Costa Rica as you learn to surf or hone your skills paddling alongside our experienced surf instructors. At the same time, demonstrate your dedication to staying safe in and out of the water by earning your American Safety and Health Institute First Aid & CPR/AED certifications.

Our remote surf camps are located on the Pacific coast, famous for its warm waters and consistent surf breaks. Spend your nights under the stars, and head out early to catch the morning’s first waves at high tide. Learn more than just surfing with our holistic instruction on how to read wave conditions, maintain equipment, and surf etiquette. If you’re lucky, you might even get to experience the spectacular coastal wildlife including sea turtles, dolphins, and three different species of monkeys.

Between breaks, you and your course mates will engage with the local community through service projects and learn life-saving techniques while studying for and eventually earning your First Aid & CPR/AED certifications. Whether it’s learning how to use your board as a rescue device, or practicing CPR on mannequins, you will learn the best techniques in staying safe on both land and water.
