Volunteer in a educational community center

This educational community center was founded in 2004 in order to address shortcomings in the Guatemalan national education system, particularly in Quetzaltenango and its surrounding communities. The project is located on the outskirts of Quetzaltenango in a sector called Pacajá, and it´s a fully licensed non-profit organization funded by its Spanish language school.

Tasks of the volunteer;
Morning program
- Teaching English or another subject to youth, also general classroom assistance.
- Handling the class by themselves & with their own subject
- Rotate between different grades during the morning
Afternoon program
- Recreational activities with children, helping with homework & specific reinforcement where needed.
Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoon
- English lessons for local youth

In this project, you can choose to work in the mornings, afternoons or full days, so it's perfect to combine your volunteering with Spanish lessons in the afternoons, which is a nice way to improve your Spanish but also learn about the Guatemalan culture.
