VE Global Volunteers Help Children At Social Risk in Chile

Program Description

VE Global (VE) recruits, trains and organizes international volunteers to support our mission of fostering the positive development of children at social risk in Chile. VE has successfully integrated over 450 full-time volunteers from more than 35 countries into our network of local Chilean partner organizations, including children's homes, community centers, schools and preschools in some of the most vulnerable areas of Santiago.

VE Global volunteers serve in one of our local Chilean partner organizations, typically children's shelters and community centers, and in some cases schools for children with special needs or in preschool environments. Volunteers provide an extra set of hands to support the work with the children and youth in these placements. Although volunteer responsibilities can vary from placement to placement, all VE Global volunteers form part of the VE community as well and implement our unique programs: Vamos a Leer, Festival de Arte, English in Motion and Liga de Deportes. Additionally, volunteers can apply for funds from VE to cover the costs of creating and implementing their own special workshops based on their personal interests.

Volunteering with VE Global is a full-time commitment for a minimum of four months, and our volunteers must apply through our online website application.

Program highlights

Volunteering with children and youth in Chile is an amazing opportunity. Not only do VE Global volunteers get to practice Spanish, meet new people and live in a new cultural environment, but they gain real world, hands-on experience while helping others. This truly unique opportunity serves our volunteers well, no matter what their background or future interests. Santiago is a safe, vibrant, metropolitan Latin American city that boasts a number of unique opportunities for volunteers from around the world.

Most importantly, VE Global and our volunteers are focused on having a sustainable and lasting impact on the children with whom we work.
