Statia Conservation Volunteer Project, St. Eustatius, Caribbean

Program Description

Volunteer on the island of St. Eustatius in the Caribbean, overlooking the island of St. Kitts and help to protect and preserve their national and marine parks.
We have a range of activities for volunteers to get involved with such as:
- Working on the trail systems of The Quill and Boven National Parks
- Assisting with night patrols on Zeelandia Beach during turtle nesting season
- Observing turtle behaviour as part of an in-water survey outside of turtle nesting season
- Working in the Miriam C. Schmidt Botanical Gardens
- Environmental Education
Volunteers should note that turtle nesting season runs from March to October.

Statia is a very peaceful island and there is plenty of time for volunteers to make the most of this. Whether it be swimming by the pier, bird watching or obtaining diving certificates, there is plenty to keep you busy!

Program highlights

Visitors do not come to Statia for its beaches, but instead for the amazing snorkelling and diving opportunities. This is an exciting programme for those with a keen interest in marine conservation and an interest in diving to gain some hands on conservation experience. Truly this is a chance to work in paradise.
