South Africa - Teach Children and Surf in Cape Town

Program Description

Teach 12-14 year old children how to surf in an after school adventure club. The adventure club offers children from impoverished neighborhoods the facilities and equipment for outdoor activities. The club provides the children with an opportunity to learn about various watersport activities and helps keep them off the streets. Volunteers will have a variety of community projects from teaching the kids to swim and surf to educating them about HIV and drug prevention. When you are not with the children you can use your own time to take free surf lessons and explore Cape Town. It should be noted that volunteers do not need to have any prior experience in surfing to join this project.

Program highlights

1. Travel outside of Cape Town to nearby Hermanus for spectacular whale watching.
2. Help impoverished children gain self-confidence through water sport activities.
3. Go on a real adventure and see the wild African animals on a safari.
4. Gain hands-on experience teaching and counseling children.
