Proyecto Barrilete is located in Guadalupe, León and is an after-school outreach program dedicated to helping underprivileged and orphan children. These children come to the center in order to receive help with schoolwork, play, learn, and eat lunch. Volunteers must be prepared to face the hardship that these children experience, which can be difficult. In order to help your transition, volunteers are trained by the staff prior to your start date and attend a reflection session after beginning volunteering. Volunteers will primarily be placed with older children for a minimum of four hours in the afternoon. However, volunteers may also have the opportunity to work in the morning with younger children. You need to present quality lessons in English in order to give them a competitive edge over their privileged peers. Children will have the opportunity for career chances and advancement through learning English from native speakers and obtaining a certificate.

You will receive the benefit of knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of children and young adults who otherwise may never have the opportunity to attend English lessons with native and fluent English speakers.
