Good Food Community

Program Description

Volunteers can help with different tasks within the organisation. Assisting farmers (plowing, seeding, harvesting, etc), helping with packing the vegetables and delivery in the city and, when needed, office tasks like marketing.

Weekdays:

We plan for volunteers to spend a third of their time in Metro Manila and the remaining time at the farm. Our major activity days are on Mondays when we go to the farm and meet with the farmers. We often bring a group of people with us. A couple of us stay over and begin packing veggies. The following day we pack the remaining vegetables and deliver to the city. We will need help in packing and guiding the friends who join us. Depending on logistics, the volunteer may be asked to return to Manila to help with delivery or be asked to stay and help the farmers with their farms.

Program highlights

Our organisation, Good Food Community, seeks to bring together city folk and farmers in an effort to promote sustainable farming and eating. Community-Shared Agriculture assures that farmers will have a market to sell their wares and those in the city are given healthy and fresh produce. Households who pledge to receive goods for a season will be given organic and fresh harvest while farmers cater to a stable demand. This is a project that seeks to promote a mutually beneficial relationship and to work towards a sustainable and economically viable alternative.
