Program Description
We are searching for medical/nursing students and experienced professions to volunteer at Centro de Salud, a public community clinic. 150 to 200 patients are served by this clinic daily with a staff of 35 professionals with specialties including lab, cardiology, emergency ER, hospitalization, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, and general medicine.
Your volunteer duties including rotating between departments, participating on daily rounds with the staff, cleaning wounds, measuring weight/temp, checking blood pressure, doing other general checkups, conducting physicals, and charting patients. You will help the local staff as needed by assisting with OBGYN and maternity needs (most common), medicine and supplies, checking vitals, and taking medical history.
This healthcare placement requires a Spanish proficiency, although we do offer local Spanish lessons. You can combine this program with our Language and Cultural Immersion.
