Program Description
Conversations with Foreigners is an English language center in central Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We provide affordable conversational English classes to students aged 15 years and above. Students pay a small fee, profits are used to fund sustainable development projects in rural Cambodia by our partner NGO, the Cambodian Rural Development Team. Teaching at CWF is a fantastic experience and an opportunity to gain professional and cultural experience in this wonderful country!
CWF’s teaching approach is designed to address the challenges of teaching English in a development context. We aim to make English a real–life communication tool and our students confident users of English.
CWF’s unique curriculum draws on our student’s desire to share their traditions and uphold their cultural identity. The course reflects the realities of Cambodian life by incorporating Khmer food, celebrities, travel destinations and ceremonies.
We teach only conversational English in a fun and informal setting. This results in a cross-cultural dialogue between our students and their teachers, who come from across the world. This is effective not only in motivating students to speak and practice English, but also to promote a balanced exchange of ideas. Students are empowered to express their pride in Cambodia.
Teachers are expected to teach up to 4 hours per day, 5 days per week. They must commit to the full 12 weeks of the programme.
Living support is provided by a dedicated In-Country Support team, who are available 24/7 to assist with travel arrangements, medical issues, visas, and any other local advice or assistance required. Social activities, day trips, Khmer language lessons, cooking lessons etc are arranged regularly.
Accommodation in the CWF House is available but not compulsory, costing $725 for 12 weeks. This includes a shared room and bathroom (2 per room), 3 meals per day prepared by our in-house cooks (weekdays only), WiFi, common areas with TV, Computer, Printer, Large book and DVD collection, huge balcony, fridge/kitchen, washing machine, and up to 13 wonderful housemate also teaching at CWF.
