USAC Costa Rica: Heredia

Students who are interested in improving their Spanish language abilities as well as being immersed in the Latin American culture are welcome to join our Heredia program. You will improve your language skills through structured courses and spontaneous everyday interactions with locals. This city is situated on the outskirts of San José. This location is ideal for experiencing the bustle of city life with the calm of a smaller community. This region is naturally rich and beautiful and you will have plenty of opportunity to explore.

There are three academic focuses of this program: Latin American Studies, Ecological Studies, and Spanish as a language. In one semester, you will be able to achieve up to two years of language study. This program is open for a semester or a year and there are a variety of electives that can also be taken.

The value of this program also lies in the immersive experience of interacting with locals and the local culture. You will go on excursions to events such as festivals and also trips around the environment including the rainforest and nature reserves. There is a field study course that will allow students to learn about Costa Rican culture and lifestyle.
