The Hague, Netherlands: International Criminal Justice

Program Description

Study abroad in The Hague in the Netherlands and enroll in a course on International Criminal Justice. This course runs from May 28 to June 8 and is worth 3 units.

The two-week academic program in The Hague will include study visits to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) as well as other ongoing tribunals. Students will have the opportunity to observe actual trail proceedings, witnessing criminal justice, trial advocacy, and comparative and international law in action.

Program highlights

“Traveling to The Hague with Santa Clara changed my life. Visiting the ICJ and ICC helped me realize that social justice wasn’t a buzzword, but a calling. Learning about the ongoing tribunals at the ICTY and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, where defendants were held on charges like crimes against humanity and genocide, gave me hope that it is possible to make the world a better place for our children. Meeting SCU Law alums that are making that hope a reality showed me that we have the unique opportunity to act as agents in that change. I highly recommend this program for all law students.”
