Security and Cooperation in Southeast Europe

Program Description

Study abroad with this program and examine the issues of transitioning away from communism in Southeast Europe. There have been periods of ethnic conflict and the collapse of various states, all of which will be covered in this program. Florida State University has a longstanding partnership with affiliate universities and organizations within the Balkan region. We have even collaborated with the 300-year-old University of Zagreb, offering students a unique opportunity to discuss these topics with faculty, policy makers, and local students from the area. Live life in the former Yugoslav states and learn about the development of Montenegro, Croatia, and Bosnia towards a NATO and EU membership. Situated in beautiful coastal Dubrovnik, students will be able to admire this Adriatic Sea ancient walled town with founding ties from Romans in the eighth century. This is a charming destination full of life and culture.
