Middlebury School in China: Beijing

Program Description

The Middlebury School in China offers an exceptional academic program to undergraduates at U.S. colleges and universities. Students who have completed two years of Chinese language training are invited to participate in the program under the Middlebury Language Pledge®, a commitment to speak exclusively the target language for the duration of their time abroad.

Beijing is a large and vibrant city, particularly known as the cultural, educational and artistic center of China. The city has grown tremendously; visitors and residents alike remark at its constant state of change and the contrast between the modern and the ancient. It goes without saying that in Beijing, politics and business are central. Not far from the School in China's campus sits the pristine and glistening financial street. In the center of Beijing lies the ancient Forbidden City in addition to the modern Politburo's meeting grounds. The School in China is based at the Capital Normal University, well known as one of the best teacher's colleges in Beijing.

Students take a combination of the following types of courses:
1. Experience Beijing core course
2. One-on-one tutorial
3. Electives in advanced language, politics and area studies
4. Credit-bearing internships or direct enroll courses for qualified students in the second semester
