Program Description
Bucharest University has teamed up with the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy in order to create a Master of Arts degree program which will focus on International Relations and Globalization Studies. International students from across the globe will study disciplines and courses that cover all aspects of these fields and that specifically focus on the roles of soft power and cultural diplomacy.
Students will attend courses based on International Relations and Economics, Global Politics and Cultural Diplomacy. Teachers will create a strong foundation in theories of globalization and the historical development of cultural diplomacy, including historical and contemporary applications. Students will be able to enter a variety of professions including jobs in international relations, the humanities, politics and culture, and especially global governance.
This MA program will explore these subjects using a historical and case study approach. Classroom lectures will be supplemented by talks by well-known figures and in a variety of settings including non-governmental organizations. Special events, conferences and tours will be a part of the study program. Leading experts will lend their knowledge in the fields of international relations, politics, human rights, multilateral diplomacy, and a whole host of other essential subjects.
Students of this program will have practical experience to go along with their academic foundations. Students will be able to form professional networks in order to advance their future career. The curriculum covered in this program will prepare students for positions in a wide range of fields including civil society, governmental organizations and international economic centers.
The Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies (CCDS)
The Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies (CCDS) is a diverse center for the study of Cultural Diplomacy. The CCDS provides educational and professional development for persons interested in careers in academia, diplomacy, government, and/or the private sector. A central focuses of this center are the balance between hard and soft power, the growth of globalization, international economics and business, intercultural dialogue, human rights, religion, and the importance of global understanding for peace and stability.
Accreditation
The University of Bucharest (Uob) will award the Master’s Degree. This is a fully accredited institution of higher learning and it is a part of the Bologna Process set in place by the European Commission. The University of Bucharest uses the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) to determine degree awards. Credits earned through this program are equal to those of similar courses at universities in the other signatory countries. There will be a total of 120 credits at the end of the degree with 30 credits per semester.
Admissions
We pride ourselves on the diversity of individuals studying to complete the MA in Globalization Studies and Cultural Diplomacy with a Concentration in International Relations. Potential candidates include recent BA graduates and those who have already entered the workforce. Applicants must hold a BA degree or an equivalent degree of a minimum of a three year program, although degrees from any field are acceptable.
Our admissions panel considers the application as a whole including academic experience, personality, motivation, and the willingness to be challenged academically. We are specifically looking for students from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures in order to create an international atmosphere.
* Current undergraduate students are able to submit an application and participate in the pre-enrolment process by submitting a confirmation of their current studies and their transcripts.
The classes for this program are taught in English and so applicants must demonstrate competence in their English language ability if they are not a native speaker. Please provide a certificate or other documentation to assert that you have at least studied one semester of English or have been immersed in an English speaking workplace.

Fees
The tuition for our program is 12,000 Euros for all students (6,000 Euros per academic year). This fee covers only tuition and does not include living costs or related expenses.

Curriculum Highlights
Setting Description: The program is composed of 4 Semesters (2 Academic Years). The program consists of 120 ECTS credits with the first two semesters in Berlin, Germany and the second two in Bucharest, Romania. A portion of the 4th year can be completed at a distance.

Students will have the opportunity to enroll in a variety of elective courses alongside the mandatory classes. Students will also be able to explore work opportunities and all of their work will culminate in a final thesis. The first semester will have three mandatory classes and two electives while the second semester will feature the professional development program along with two electives. Second year students will move on to Bucharest University to start working on and eventually completing their thesis. At the end of the program, students will be expected to defend their thesis at Bucharest University.
Students will have a wide range of opportunities to explore independent research and to be able to network with skilled professionals and experts. Students will be able to immerse themselves in the cultures of two different cities in two very different countries. This program will allow students to experience higher learning in a traditional university setting as well as to learn in a nongovernmental organization.
