IPSL Vietnam: Environment Science & Sustainable Development

Program Description

IPSL has designed & delivered international programs focusing on experiential learning, ethical service & engaged research for 37 years. Now the independent IPSL Institute for Global Learning is authorized to offer academic credit, issue official transcripts and confer diplomas through the Master's level. IPSL is a B-Corp (Social Benefit Organization) with over 83% of profits directly returned to the people, communities & NGOs they partner with abroad.

Learn first-hand about Sustainable Development & Global Political Systems while in Hanoi, Vietnam. Students take courses at CSDS (The Center for Sustainable Development Services) that will include COSA in Vietnam (Community Organizing & Social Activism) as well as a Vietnamese Language Course and chosen electives that include: Environmental Science & Sustainable Development; Water, Sanitation & the Environment; Sustainable Tourism; Global Health & the Environment; Politics & Policy of the Environment; Sustainable Business in a Globalized World; Globalization & Social Justice

Learn the practical skills to be an active agent of change and social justice. Study the many international efforts in history, learn from these efforts and use them to develop a personal ethic of service, advocacy and civic engagement. COSA (Community Organizing & Social Activism) will teach you the skills of community organizing and will empower you to create sustainable change in your own communities.

Program highlights

Students live in modern dorm/student housing at the Center for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS). The dorms accommodate both international and Vietnamese students and volunteers. All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days per week) are included and served at the CSDS center.

Opportunities for substantive service are generally available in the following areas: Services to disadvantaged children; English language consulting &/or tutoring; Volunteer & youth development; Environmental/conservation programs; Eco-tourism program development; Poverty alleviation; Women’s empowerment programs and Micro-finance programs.
