Program Description
Next Program Start: November 1st - 30th, 2014
Students will learn about international organizations and global governance institutions focusing specifically on the role of cultural diplomacy in global governance. Courses cover the facilitation of cooperating effectively at political, economic and cultural levels and the understanding between a diversity of cultures.
Analyze the practice of Cultural Diplomacy through the examination of specific case studies of international organizations and global governance organizations. Gain a key understanding of how a system of mutual exchange can be pivotal in strengthening the relationships between governments and societies.
Structure & Methodology
This 4 week program consists of weekly readings and video lectures with daily access to guidance by the CCDS faculty. Telephone conversations will be arranged with a faculty advisor throughout the duration of the program, in order to offer advice and guidance to students. Within a 3 month period after successfully completing the program, students will be required to write a 10 page final paper. This is the grade of the course, however, extensions for all deadlines are possible in order to maintain flexibility with students' professional or other obligations
Curriculum
There are five courses total with 2 electives chosen from a selection of four options and three mandatory courses.
Program Participants
Interested individuals from across the world, students, young professionals, private sector representatives, civil society practitioners, journalists, artists, academics, diplomatic and governmental officials are welcome to join this program.
All courses will be taught in English. And so a proficiency in English is also a prerequisite for application; for non-native English Speakers Studies in English or extensive working experience in English are sufficient as proof of the English level. Individuals studying for the Certificate Program in Cultural Diplomacy will represent a diverse range of cultural and academic backgrounds and are required to have an undergraduate degree of/ or to be currently enrolled to any field of Academic study and/or to have a proven work experience and position in related fields.
Certificate of Completion
Upon submission of final paper and at the completion of the program, participants will be awarded an official certificate.
