Descriere program
The Water Sanitation Hygiene and Girl Education Project aims to develop awareness of the essential importance of have toilets for girls and women, issues with open defecation, and the healthy habits of hand washing and menstrual hygiene. India has a major issue with a lack of toilets and open defecation. 47% of schools do not have female toilets that function and, because of this, there is a 23% drop-out rate due to a deficit of knowledge about menstrual hygiene. This is directly hindering the education of girls and the economic and social growth of the country as a whole.
This project is primarily based on education and awareness as we are reaching out to schools for girls, government schools, healthcare clinics for women, and female orphanages across Leh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi. We develop awareness about these serious issues through IEC and ICT tool and through engaging tools such as cultural events showing documentary films, games for hygiene, and drama. This will adjust the behavior and understanding of children since they will be able to spread the message in turn.
