Junior Conservator

Responsibilities:

Following the programme of works set by the Conservator;
Assist the Conservator to procure materials and equipment to use for restoration, conservation and maintenance works;
Identify weakness and deterioration in stone artefacts and draw the attention of the Conservator
immediately for direction and action;
Carry out restoration works on stone and gilding;
Carry out photographic and graphic documentation;
Ensure that work is only carried out in the manner and fashion directed by the Conservator;
Ensure that the health and safety standards are always adherent to legal and Company standards;
Attend placements or activities connected with the trade to enhance experience and competence;
Be responsible for maintaining a high level of organisation and cleanliness in the restoration site;
Be responsible for the employees on site;
Assist the conservator in monitoring of the artefact and other related works which may arise from time to time;

Requirements:

Minimum of MQF Level 4 qualification in stone conservation;
Relevant experience in the practice of restoration of stone artefacts;
Knowledge of the use of materials and technology related to stone restoration interventions;
English Competencies as primary language to be used at work;
Portfolio of previous works;
Dependability Initiative;
