German speaking Legal Counsel

On behalf of our client we are looking for a Legal Counsel to work in Malta. The chosen candidate will be in charge of reviewing, interpreting and translating legal requirements, and communicating that to the business and external stakeholders. The position is an excellent opportunity to develop your career further.

Responsibilities include:

- Drafting and negotiations of complex license, distribution, marketing and cooperation agreements
with national and international partners; support of marketing and commercial teams on marketing activities and contractual questions; administration/management of contract management system;

- Drafting and maintenance of standard terms and conditions;

- Coordinate, guide and facilitate the contract approval and signing process; first point of contact to
business units for contract approvals;

- Improvement of the contract management system;

- Give accurate and timely advice to other departments in a variety of legal topics (IP and
competition law, labour law, e-commerce law, tax law, etc); respond to ad hoc queries, providing
appropriate solutions;

- Collaborating and managing the working relationship with external lawyers, consultants and
public entities;

- Contribution to the preparation and establishment of internal policies, directives and instructions;
ensuring compliance with internal controls, statutory regulations and other formalities;

- Calculating and handling of risks in business process and decision making;

- Following jurisprudence and cases handled by external lawyers, analysing the jurisdiction and
preparing updates for management;

- Drafting of business mails and legal documents;

- Help with drafting and delivery of legal guidelines, training materials and compliance checklists in
order to support the business;

- Data research and information management;

- Legal support in ad-hoc projects.

- German qualified lawyer;

- 2 years or more experience in-house or with a major international law firm ideally in the gambling industry;

- Expertise and knowledge in the areas of commercial, online, administrative corporate-, tax or
intellectual property law are an advantage;

- Affinity with technical systems and their regulation;

- German native speaker with English to a business standard is a must;

- Delivering high standard results in a fast-paced working environment independently but also in a
team.
