CANOPY ADVENTURE

The tour begins in a classic Swiss Army Pinzgauer 6x6 which takes you off road from the valley to the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountain range. As if this isn’t exciting enough you will take on the forest skimming along on 9 ziplines and 12 platforms before testing your metal on a flex bridge. The bridge is the beginning of your trek to the Huana Coa base camp via the Blue Agave Trail. For families children under five are free. Another way to approach the club is by water taxi at a cost of 5USD per person – always negotiable.

THE DEER ISLAND KAYAK ADVENTURE

This is one of the most picturesque areas of the coastline. Cruising on a 50 foot trimaran to Deer Island sets the scene for 5 hours of pure relaxation and enjoyment. You will kayak for one hour with an experienced guide who will enlighten you on the history of the island and its inhabitants. Free time to swim and enjoy a locally prepared lunch follows before being driven back along the coastline through the Golden Zone with its historical monuments and lavish accommodation.

The ruggedness of the mountains stretches out before you revealing hues of earthly browns and skies of deepest blue. Old artisans demonstrate the age old craft of pottery making while an ancient bakery still in operation today will have you salivating at the smell of freshly baked pastries and bread. Concordia founded in 1550 will entrance you as you wander through the Baroque church decorated in individual hand painted tiles. Famous for its furniture, Concordia will leave you wishing it was easier to ship goods to your home port. Copala a former Gold mining town founded in 1565 offers picture postcard opportunities as you wander through the narrow streets taking in the feel of the old colonial buildings. If you listen you can almost hear the “Gringos” calling from the bars on the streets edge.

SPORT FISHING ADVENTURE

Like many ports in Mexico, fishing is a much sort after experience. For 6.5 hours you will join the Aries sport fishing fleet and have an opportunity to catch Marlin, sailfish, swordfish, tuna and Dorado. Note that the fleet use the catch and release programme with fishing being closely monitored throughout the Pacific waters

 

GOLF YOUR DAY AWAY

The previously mentioned El Cid Country Club is well renowned for golf. Featuring a Lee Trevi signature designed course, the par 72 (27 holes) over 6486 yards – 5931 metres- offers a challenge to all skill levels. The course is home to both deer and turtles as a biological reserve. Club and shoes rental available as well as carts and caddies. Definitely a golf lovers excursion.

 

BIRD WATCHING & BEACH ESCAPE

You will be transported along the waterways of El Cid by catamaran to experience marine birds and iguanas in a semi natural habitat. TURTLE SANCTUARY & NATURE RESERVE

Ask any Mexican who lives along the Riviera and they will tell you that they are all well aware of the importance of the marine life and its biological significance to the region. The endangered Gulf Turtle has been pushed to near extinction but with help from the reserve, they are growing once again in numbers. At the Mangrove Sanctuary the eggs are harvested and incubated to ensure greater survival of the species. A portion of the tour price allows you to be certified to release a baby turtle to the sea.

Mazatlán was founded by the Spanish in 1531 who soon discovered the riches of Gold and Silver. To this day silver jewellery and precious stones are amongst the priced offerings when you are on tour. Of course many tried to invade Mazatlán in order to take control of the mines. Once controlled by local Cartels, it has grown to be one of the Rivieras largest cities. Vigia Hill home of the world’s highest lighthouse and the 19th century Cathedral are all part of this 4 hour tour.
