Program Description
An immersion program is the best way to learn a foreign language. Our program combines daily classes (Monday through Friday) with accommodation in a genuine local family who is ready and willing to share their language and culture with you. Additionally we offer to arrange dozens of school-led activities and eco-adventure tours so that you have a well-rounded Spanish learning vacation in Panama.
The Spanish Immersion Program includes at least 1 week of the Group 4 course, which is a general Spanish course for all levels (beginner to advanced). The more weeks that you sign up for, the greater discount that you receive. It also includes a stay with a local family with two meals per day (most students choose breakfast and dinner).
Students can choose and pay for the activities and eco-tours once they are on-site. The prices range from being free (movie nights, conversational practice, salsa dance lessons) to costing $300 for a full day private tour.
Panama City is fast-becoming one of Latin America's most important international capitals. With skyscrapers, the Cinta Costera park along the coastline, the Casco Viejo historical section, the Panama Canal, and the Frank Gehry Biodiversity Museum, there is plenty to see, experience, and do! The good news is, it's not too big yet and that makes it easy to navigate. What's even better is that right outside the city limits, you can find beautiful white sand beaches, indigenous communities to explore and learn about, and lush rainforest with almost 200 species of birds in one area!
Program highlights
The Group 4 classes have no more than 6 students all at your exact same Spanish level. All of our teachers are Panamanian, have college-degrees, and are full time employees at our school. We teach using the Communicative Method, which is based on conversation and activity-based tasks rather than memorization and workbook activities. You will be given an Habla Ya-created book to use during class, which is included in the course fee.
You will have your own private room in the home stay and we do our best to not place multiple students in one host family. The families frequently take students around town, visit with other local family and friends, or play games at home. We encourage interaction as much as the student feels comfortable.
