Job Description
Google Ads Quality Rater Duties & Responsibilities
This job generally requires the ability to do the following work:
• Access the internet with a high-speed connection.
• Use Google's online tool to rate ads.
• Review online content including text, images, web pages, and more.
• Rate the relevance of search results.
• Learn and maintain knowledge of the region or culture the web ads target.
• Report results through Google's online tool.
• Maintain current computer software and hardware.
This work involves analyzing and providing feedback on text, web pages, images, and other types of information for Google using an online tool. Raters log on to the online tool through their Google accounts to select tasks to do on a self-directed schedule.
Quality raters review the results returned in a specific search query, then rate the results in terms of relevance. Some might be marked as vital, while others are rated as useful, relevant, slightly relevant, and off topic. Results can also be marked as spam.
This process is more subjective than an algorithm would provide, but Google gives raters detailed guidelines on how to choose a rating.
Quality: (Must Read)
• Read all the task instructions carefully and completely, do not rush. Click and check all the required URLs/hyperlinks in the given task before submitting the tasks. If the raters rush through without clicking and checking the URLs. Google takes into account the time taken to read the instructions too (you know this from the assessment test).
• If the candidates are found to be rushing through the instructions and consistently making wrong judgment then it can be recorded as a quality issue and if it is far too many inconsistent judgments made then they can disqualify, so please take care. But if you are 100% sure then you can carry on completing the tasks at a faster pace.
• In case if you come across no task available situation then you can note down the date and time (they are planning to set up a google form to record this information for each individual, I will send this google form link in the next few days) so that they can take this up to Google to sort it out. The number of tasks will improve and there will be a lot more tasks available going forward.
Blind Test:
Google randomly checks the quality of work by slipping in ‘test tasks,’ this is called the Blind Quality exam and no one can predict when this is done by google. Normally the blind test is surfaced once a month. As the name says, it’s a blind test and cannot be predicted. If a rater fails the blind test, their tool id is suspended and they are to be moved out of the project. Just like every company or business has quality control, this is Google’s way of quality control. Please know that this exam will be administered again next month but we do not know when. Therefore, raters are expected to pay full attention when working on tasks and adhere to the golden rules given. Here’s a break-up of exams or tests that google administers:
1 Google Qualification Test (Pre-Production): this is the test the raters have to pass to qualify and enter production, taken before onboarding
2 Blind test: These tests are monthly tests that the raters have to take once they are in production. As the name suggests it’s a 'Blind' test. Failing this test means an exit from the project.
3 Gating Exams: These exams determine what type of ads the raters can work on.
Deactivation:
• Please make sure you log in to your Gmail account and check messages regularly. Also, log in to EWOQ tool and see if there are any tasks regularly. Don’t leave it not used for a longer period. We have been informed that if you don’t use it for like two weeks, Google will deactivate your account, and then you will have to go through the assessment test again to qualify. If you have a holiday or anything planned for a few days, please inform me and I will inform Virtusa, so that they are aware that you will not be checking the tool/Gmail.
Expected hours:
• Client would like you to spend at least 20 hours which is roughly 700 tasks per week, if you can do more that’s better. This is their expectation going forward, but not strictly for the time being. There are no limits to how many you can complete in a day, we have a record that one person completed 900 tasks in a day!
General Tool Issues:
• If you receive “NO TASK”, we would like to suggest you click on the acquire button after the interval of every 20 minutes whenever you are logged in.
• Your total number of submitted tasks (with and without extension) will be sent to us in a report by email and we can forward that to you weekly (around Wednesday or Thursday, we do this weekly). End of the month you can raise your invoice using this report for the whole month).
• The weekly report will reflect the accurate numbers and most of the time the weekly report will have better numbers than what you see in the tool.
• Please do not worry about the timer recommended on Tool. Since you are new to the ads rating system, kindly focus on learning and understanding the new task which you are coming across. As you go along, you will improve your speed and accuracy much better.
• Initially, you are expected to receive tasks in the English language, later on, it will be changed to your regional language. So please proceed with the English tasks without having any confusion.
• For a few ads, the Chrome extension won’t work. whenever you receive any error while clicking on the extension, please disable the extension and go back to EWOQ Tool and refresh the page. You will find the submit button at bottom of the page, click on that submit button to submit that particular task. If you receive a new task then again enable the extension and submit by extension. This will help us to track your data submitted through extension.
