Job Description
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for coordinating the shipments of inbound materials to all U.S. Husqvarna facilities in time for production and outbound finished goods to dealers/distributors. Other responsibilities include timely handling of expedited domestic, expedited air, and international freight for all production, research and design, and warehousing facilities. This position is critical to the support and daily operations of Husqvarna’s factories, warehouses and research and development team’s transportation needs.
Essential Duties:
Support and actively participate in the successful implementation of the TMS System to include training, participation in testing, and final implementation/go live to ensure project success.
Assist with freight claims and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) response processes from initiation, filing and collection. The CRM items need to be addressed, researched and resolved in a timely manner.
Ensure that all policies, procedures and controls are followed and that all reports are completed accurately and submitted on time.
Select/decide the carriers to be used based on cost and service and award the routing of inbound truckload shipments for suppliers, plants, and warehouses. Responsible for freight spend of over $40 million.
Develop and maintain close relationships to support all production planning groups, both domestic and internationally, warehouse shipping teams to ensure communication on open orders.
Develop and manage the day-to-day relationships with carriers, brokers, and Husqvarna material and production planners to ensure Husqvarna is obtaining the optimum solution for its customers.
Resolve transportation issues for delivery requirements. Work with planning and sales to ensure timely shipping and prioritization of orders/shipments.
Manage day to day TMS data and route loads according to factory demands.
Manage the daily bid process via the bid process tool, evaluate, select and award shipments to carriers with best service/cost proposal via Lean Logistics TMS.
Assist in gathering transportation data to be used in weekly and monthly transportation KPI’s.
Answer questions regarding transportation from customer service, plant, sales and warehouse staff.
Provide assistance in special projects, as required.
Communicate service issues to transportation staff, including but not limited to on-time performance and tender acceptance.
Ensure that products are shipped in the most timely and efficient manner according to Husqvarna policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain SOP (Standard Operation Procedures)
Carrier Freight Payment Audit aligned with carrier contracts and execution of support for freight claims

Job Requirements
Associate’s degree
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Transportation/Logistics role
End user exposure/experience with TMS (Transportation Management System)
General knowledge of both transportation and warehousing operations and procurement of each.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment both within the department and with external factories, warehouses and Sales team.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful work environment with a sense of urgency
Strong organization, customer service and problem solving skills.
Strong analytical skills, including a demonstrated ability to synthesize, interpret, and communicate market and competitive data
Proficiency at the intermediate to experienced level in MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)and an ability to quickly master other IT systems
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage strategic supplier relationships, including relationship building, performance, development and integration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as teamwork and interpersonal skills, to include the ability to develop high quality working relationships both internally and externally with customers and suppliers.
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptive to internal processes and change, delays or unexpected events
Results-oriented and demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding proprietary company information
Ability to work after hours and weekend shifts
Ability to travel as needed (15-25%)
Proven experience with international air and ocean transportation.
