Software Operations Engineer - Malta

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Software Operations Engineer to work in sunny Malta. This could be an excellent opportunity for you to boost your career or gain more experience!

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with all development teams to support current projects
Oversees projects and assignments
Ensure that the development process adheres to standards
Make sure that all projects are completed on time
Central point of reference for all team members
Be part of the recruitment process for new team members
Follow development and testing procedures to ensure the highest quality of software development
Create, maintain and review documentation regarding any system developments
Use of source contract and task tracking software
Carry out performance reviews
Liaise with manager regarding any team issues
Maintain communication with stakeholders to address any issues that may arise with system development
Liaise with other teams within the business so ensure all relevant departments are aware of project design

University degree in computer science or engineering.
Knowledge of object oriented design methodologies, database and web technologies.
Proficient in Java and have experience with Servlet containers such as Apache Tomcat and web technologies (HTML, Javascript, JQuery).
Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP) and networking protocols
Experience with technologies such as the Spring Framework (core, MVC, integration, ORM), JMS (ActiveMQ), Hibernate ORM, Servlet containers, MongoDB and standalone Java services.
Knowledge of Linux and able to trouble-shoot problems at the system level.
Proficient in virtualization and Cloud IaaS systems (Knowledge of VMware products will be considered an asset)
Knowledge of build automation tools such a Maven, source control tools, and bug tracking software.
Able to write technical documentation to support software releases.
