Network Implementation Engineer

Works as part of the Global Implementation/Service Transition Group, within Global Communications Information Security (GCIS), to engineer services to be delivered and operated in a globally consistent manner by Service Delivery/Operations.

Implementation Engineering:
– Works on multiple simultaneous projects to implement new technologies and configuration in conjunction with other Network/Security Groups
– Serves as technical consultant on divisional network projects
– Acts as a lead and subject expert for certain technologies/services within the group as assigned

Service Transition
- Participates in the GCIS Security Release Management Process for New Services and ongoing Service Feature releases to include, but not limited to:
- Working with Service Design on the initial service concept ensuring a handover to Service Transition
- Working in a cross functional team to develop the service and required deliverables
- Working with Service Delivery/Operations to train and handover the service such that it can be delivered and supported consistently
- Participates in and applies the same Process for subsequent service releases as defined by the Service Roadmap
- Acts an interface between Service Design and Service Delivery/Operations

Fourth Level Support
– Provides 4th level support to Operations for escalated issues and drives these to resolution
– Works with Network Design Engineering on chronic Problems

- Experience with Routers, Switches, VRF
- Cisco – WAN (MPLS, Internet, IPSEC, Encapsulation), WAAS
- Experience with Cisco ASA and Palo Alto Firewalls
- Experience with F5 load balancer
- Detailed understanding of the function and configuration of Cisco networking equipment
- Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers in a large WAN environment
- Administering and configuring layer 2 and layer 3 Cisco networks
- Knowledge of VLANs, spanning tree, BGP and EIGRP
- Understanding of IP addressing including subnetting and supernetting
- Provide proactive recognition and correction of network related problems
- Ability to perform implementation activities outside of normal business hours
