MySQL DBA

As MySQL DBA you will work within the Database department and take responsibility for security, integrity, performance, availability and recoverability of databases, database servers and related systems.

The successful candidate will also be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

You will have proven ability in working with stakeholders to establish their requirements and designing and implementing the database architecture for Oracle and MySQL database that support 1000’s of globally distributed concurrent users, ensuring that the result is reliable, performing and secure.

Key daily tasks:
- Serving as a DBA in all facets of DBMS design, implementation, deployment, administration and maintenance, and project coordination and support of production and development environments;
- Design and implement databases using industry standard methodologies and present to stakeholders;
- Monitor database activity and ensure that index statistics, database growth/storage, replication, back-up and recovery procedures are in place and functioning correctly;
- Take both leading and hands-on roles in the implementation of the solutions;
- Identify and initiate quality improvement measures;
- Manage disruption free migrations and system shutdowns;

- Extensive MySQL 5.1, 5.6 and 5.7 experience in database administration and management;
- Understanding of replication and clustering techniques and technologies;
- Ability to optimise SQL statements;
- Knowledge of MySQL limitations and experience in mitigation techniques;
- Shell programming: SQL, SHELL, PERL;
- Hand-on ability to implement Data warehousing ETL solutions;
- Experience with other database Oracle, MS SQL, open source postgress will be an advantage
