Night/Day Care Assistants - (12 hour shifts 8pm-8am/8pm-8am)
£8.21-£8.5 per hour £17,500 up to 18,729 /year
We have an opportunity for Healthcare Assistants to join the team of a nursing home located inFeltham, west London area.
This care centre has 85 beds, employs a talented team of staff who offer care accommodation for a wide range of personal needs, including residential and nursing care, respite, mental health, and dementia care.
This is a FULL-time role for 36-44 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include:
Working within the multi-disciplinary team to deliver care, maintain and enhance the customer service and satisfaction of service users under the supervision of a Registered Practitioner.
Demonstrate competence in the role of Healthcare Assistant within the scope of your working areas.
Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting Residents, when required, with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living.
Assist Residents in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual). Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring Residents retain their comfort and dignity.
Pay particular attention to assisting Residents who have limited mobility, or physical/learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided.
Closely monitor Residents who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems.
Assist in the promotion of continence.
Assist in the delivery of care for Residents for clients who are dying or who have a progressive illness. Assist with last offices.
Observe care planning needs for Residents and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
Assist in the framework of social activities by interacting with Residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care Home.
Answer Nurse Call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly.
Under the supervision and guidance of Senior Staff, report on the well-being of Residents.
Carry out regular checks on Residents at intervals determined by Senior Staff members.
Make visitors feel welcome.
Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are empty, in line with the Care Home’s disposal of waste policy.
Clean and maintain equipment used by Residents / Relatives e.g. wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles etc.
If applicable, care for Residents clothing and rooms as named, and ensure that all clothing is recorded and clearly marked.
Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying and the bereaved, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
Assist Residents who need help during meal times (be aware of swallowing difficulties, dietary requirements, etc). Assist with serving food/drinks as requested/required. Wash up as requested/required.

Requirements
Prior HCA experience in care homes or hospitals
Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
Flexibility and be able to adapt to the needs of Residents
NVQ Level 1 and/or be willing to work towards NVQ Level 2 (Healthcare specific) or equivalent.
Willing to work towards NVQ Level 3 (Healthcare specific) or equivalent
Previous experience in a Healthcare Assistant role.
Experience of customer care, including interacting with customers in challenging situations.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team, and using own initiative.
Punctual and reliable.
