Database Administrator - Malta

Responsibilities:

Administer highly available MySql and Microsoft SQL Server database server clusters
Use and deploy tools to aid in the management and monitoring of the BI, Operational, NoSql and Development Databases
Assist the Product Engineering and Service and Application Management (SAM) teams with the database and BI architecture and design in a DevOps methodology
Gain a thorough understanding of the Systems Infrastructure, with special attention to the database organization, schemas, ETL and analytics tools
Manage databases to ensure optimal performance, capacity management and reliability
Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans of all databases
Execute ad-hoc data queries, extracts and updates for customer incident resolution
Provide advice and expertise to other departments related to database schemas, queries, BI tools and performance optimization
Execute release scripts and any manual updates required on the databases;
Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the operational data dictionary
Maintain data standards, including adherence to the PCI compliance
Test and install new DBMS releases and BI tools
Establish the needs of users, monitor user access and security and controlling access permissions and privileges

A B.Sc in IT or equivalent
Knowledge of MySql and Microsoft SQL Servers
Expertise in optimizing Schemas, SQL tuning and ETL pipelines
Excellent troubleshooting skills
A can-do attitude and willingness to learn
Good writing and communication skills
Knowledge of Percona tools, Mongo, UNIX, Tomcat application server and IT applications as well as experience within the financial industry will be considered an asset
Candidate must be willing to be part of the second line on-call team, occasionally assisting front-line support with BI and Database related issues
