HELP International Summer Uganda

Program Description

Intern with HELP International in Uganda during the summer. This project is to place interns with local organizations that are dedicated to combating poverty and the effects of this on the local community. You will be responsible for instructing English, helping on construction works, improving the sanitation of water, gardening, and launching education initiatives on hygiene. Our partner organizations focus on sustainable solutions for meet the challenges of long-term obstacles. Projects run from five weeks, ten weeks, or fifteen weeks as you have the option to join different waves that last five weeks each.

You will have the opportunity to receive internship credit.

Program highlights

Interns work in a wide range of projects that shift daily. HELP International specifically targets projects that include microbusiness, public health, and education. You may be responsible for:

Education and health initiatives in urban slums and remote villages
Instructing classes on sanitation and hygiene
Constructing filters for safe water in slums
Being a teacher in an underprivileged school
Assisting the administration in a health clinic
Classroom teaching
Mentoring individuals about microbusiness
Administering HIV/AIDS tests and educating locals on this
Training teachers
Supporting the hospitals and health clinics
