Case Work Internship

Intern abroad with the Family Aid program that was created to provide crisis assistance during emergencies. This company has managed to help increase the quality of life for more than 1500 families who live in Guatemala in the highlands. Our Education Program pairs students with local families, but we decided to expand on our aid since there are no community safety nets in Guatemala. Parents and children are often plunged into vulnerable states through natural disasters, unemployment, and family deaths. The Family Aid Department works with families to insure that the aid provided helps the needs of the individuals through medical aid, food and nutrition, and emergency assistance, sometimes through donations.

Interns will help the General Family Aid Coordinator oversee:

- Requirements for the home
- Gift baskets for special occasions
- Emergency help such as money to help with rent and bills
- Celebration help for birthdays and holidays
- Any other tasks necessary to ensure the happiness of local families

- Learn about a community development organization
- Shape your internship based on experience, knowledge, and interests
- Engage with the local culture
- Increase language abilities
- Gain managerial experiences through working with the Program Director
