Cape Fear River Watch Internship, USA

This is an environmental internship opportunity that is open to students of environmental science. You will assist with the protection and improvement of water quality in the Lower Cape Fear River Basin in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA. You will accomplish these goals through education initiatives, advocacy, and outreach programs. Cape Fear River Watch is a non-profit group that works toward this goal in North Carolina.

We have 6 intern openings for three month stints in 2014. Interns will assist with:

- Greenfield Lake Eco-Tours – Interns will lead visitors on ecotours around the lake and show these visitors various wetland birds and trees from the boat.
- Enviroscape Programme – Interns give talks and presentation on cleanup and the method of monitoring water quality with environmental activists in Wilmington.
- Paddle Series – Interns will paddle around various stretches of waterways each month. The Cape Fear River watershed is an impressive arena for paddlers to suit every preference.
- Water Quality Monitoring – Interns monitor water quality with professors and scientists from the University of North Carolina.
- Rain Garden Education and Maintenance – Build and maintain a rain garden.
- River Semester – Interns will help create and carry out summer initiatives with students.
- Campsite maintenance – Interns will paddle out to the campsite to maintain the camp grounds.
- Office renovation and assistance
- River Cleanups – Interns will work in canoes and kayaks to accomplish this.

This is a great opportunity for people who are fascinated in environmental organisations and conservation initiatives. Interns will be able to increase their skills and talents while meeting people who are like-minded. Interns will gain leadership skills and will build a foundation in ecological conservation. They will also network with professors and specialists in the field.
