Housing
Your homestay family will serve as your cultural link and the best environment for an immersive experience. You will learn a variety of aspects of Southern Spanish culture as you live with a local family, who are situated a quick walk to our language school. You will have opportunities to interact with your family, but you will not be there for all evenings and afternoons. Spend your time with the Abbey Road group as you enjoy our activities for immersion outside the house. 4 evenings each week will be spent in the home as you participate in activities and enjoy dinners with your “family”. Spend the other evenings with your fellow program participants.
Optional Travel Extension: Seville and Córdoba
The Cádiz Session 2 program gives you the opportunity stay 4 nights in Seville, a fascinating and thrilling city. This was the former capital of the Moorish Kingdom and is known for an exciting artistic culture as well as the famous flamenco tradition. Explore diverse neighborhoods, go to the top of the Giralda Tower, visit the Guadalquivir River, and tour around the famous Alcazar. You will also be able to go to Córdoba on an overnight trip. This was, at times, capital of Eastern and Roman rule and features an interesting cultural heritage.
Daily Schedule
We ensure that your time spent in Spain is not ever wasted. You will learn to make tapas, improve your Spanish skills, go on trips to AcquaLand, Los Toruños, Ronda, Tarifa, Santa Maria, and Cónil, not to mention dancing salsa, exploring ancient monuments, and engaging in fun activities like kayaking and bike riding. Strive to become the great Abbey Road Student Olympics athlete!
Mornings on weekdays are spent with engaging Spanish lessons that will improve your knowledge of the language and the local culture. Afternoons are spent alternating between group activities, featuring two separate options daily, and a pre-selected elective course. Evenings will be spent with your homestay family and our fun activities in the city. Weekends will be spent on excursions through Andalusia.

Enjoy beach cookouts with your homestay family and join in on spontaneous salsa dances throughout the city. Enjoy all that this warm, welcoming, and laidback culture has to offer. Located on the southern Atlantic coast of Spain, Cádiz is located on the Costa de la Luz. It is known for spectacular beaches, an extensive history and a lively culture.
Be prepared to be immersed and live as a member of the community. Your three weeks will be spent improving your Spanish with your homestay family. This is a great opportunity that will complement your excursions, our activities and your classes. This multi-experiential approach will ensure you make the most of your time.
