Spanish Studies in the Arts, Language, History and Culture

Madrid

Begin your adventure in Spain with Madrid, a week-long stay that will introduce you to the local culture and language. Explore the capital as you go on excursions with fellow participants, participate in fun activities, and start your language conversation classes in the evening with tasty group meals. There will be two day trips to Toledo and Segovia to illustrate aspects of the history of Spain.

Barcelona

With three weeks in Barcelona, you will more than enough time to see the similarities and differences between Cataluña folk and those of the Madrileños. Your apartment is located in the center and a short walk to major cultural attractions. You will attend classes that include digital photography and art to learning about Spanish cuisine and language. The afternoons are spent on fun activities and excursions while weekends will come with exciting visits to interesting areas around Catalonia.

Residential Life

A 3-star hotel awaits you in Madrid and it has been fully vetted by our staff to be comfortable and centrally located. You will be placed in the Fort Pienc district in Barcelona which is great for visiting the beach but being secluded from noisy streets. You are an easy twenty minute walk to the Plaça de Catalunya. Enjoy this location and take the time to explore the city. This residence features a roof-top pool, student lounge, and work-out room. Each apartment features a private bathroom and bedroom with a complete kitchen that you will share with your neighboring studio apartment. This is a great middle ground between college dorm life and indulgent independence.

Daily Schedule

We ensure that you make the most of your time as you attend language courses during weekday mornings while attending your pre-selected elective three times a week in the afternoon. The remaining two afternoons are spent trying out fun activities including visiting museums, tasting tapas, sunbathing, playing ultimate Frisbee, salsa-dancing, or taking a swim in the rooftop pool. We offer two or three options each day to give you the most choice. Weekends are spent on fun excursions, events, or for you to unwind with your friends.

Day Trips

We work our day trips to take you to some of the most fascinating cities and towns. Visit Toledo and Segovia and view Roman aqueducts and cathedrals. You will also have the opportunity to visit Montserrat, Figueres, Sitges and Girona. View medieval towns, Spanish Gothic architecture, and breathtaking beaches. Take in the birthplace of Salvador Dali and experience the outdoors and mountains that may even contain the Holy Grail from Arthurian Myth.
