Program Description

With the Diploma of Built Environment, you will be provided with entry into four separate career paths:

Architectural Science

This programs goes over building design, building construction and the technical areas of this subject, architecture and how it relates to people’s living spaces, and being able to communicate architectural knowledge through spoken and written reports, drawings, electronic media, photographs and models. Students will be able to undertake employment positions in the architectural field or building industry or can continue their studies onto the Master of Architecture in order to fulfill requirements for registering as an architect.

Interior Architecture

The role of an interior designer is to create high quality environments that meet the requirements of a wide range of functions and users. Interior designers are responsible for coordinating the construction and design of the interior of buildings such as commercial, medical, gallery, workplace, retail, and hospitality environments. Interior designers are also involved with less permanent environments including displays for public events, museums, exhibitions, and trade fairs.

There are positions for interior designers within architectural firms, as managers in large corporations, as a part of interior design practices, independent consultancy, design education, or even within organisations that specialise in specific design components such as lighting and furniture.

Construction Management

Construction Managements is for students who are interested in finding positions as contract administrators, estimators, construction managers, quantity surveyors, and project managers. This is also the course for students interested in building, construction, and other related industries.

Urban & Regional Planning

The Planning Institute of Australia has accredited this course. A multi- and interdisciplinary approach is used in this course to address design, social and environmental issues facing the community. Successful human housing and settlement must be expertly planned and executed, and government protects public interest during the course of the development process.
