SACI Florence MFA in Photography

Program Description

Students participating in SACI's MFA in Photography program have the opportunity to live and work in the city that, during the Renaissance, revolutionized art. Since then, the city has served as an inspiration for generations of artists, including all of our SACI students.

Students enrolling in the MFA in Photography program create a collaborative environment, develop mentorships with SACI's outstanding faculty and pursue a curriculum that will integrate both practical and critical skills for the future. Opportunities to interact with members of SACI’s Artists Council and other notable SACI alumni, which include established artists, curators, photographers, publishers and critics.

Program highlights

As part of the program, students attend international art and photography fairs and travel to major art sites throughout Italy and Europe. They go to the major European photography festivals, including Fotografia Festival Internazionale di Roma, Paris Photo and Photolux in Lucca. Other trips are organized throughout Italy, to cities such as Milan, the natural reserve of Valle Peligna, the Volterrana Road (an Italian Route 66 in Tuscany) and the castle of Fontanellato in Parma to see one of the oldest functioning camera obscuras.
