Program Description
This program is designed to acquaint participants with the literature, language, and performing arts of contemporary Germany. Based in the beautiful river city of Dresden, students will live for one month on the campus of the Technical University and take excursions to the historically significant cities of Berlin and Weimar and the majestic region of Saxon Switzerland. Once a symbol of the war-ravaged East, Dresden has emerged from the Cold War as a center of architectural, musical, and literary importance and is provides a compelling glimpse into the nation’s past, present, and future.
Program highlights
While in Dresden, Program participants will be housed in shared accommodations at the Technical University of Dresden’s International Guest House. The modern Guest House is located directly on the university campus, a brief walk from the main train station, the city center, and the beautiful Elbe River. The dormitory-style accommodations include double occupancy rooms, private baths, and a full kitchenette for meal preparation. A daily breakfast buffet is included.
All apartments are fully furnished with bed linens, towels, quilts and pillows, and also include internet access (Ethernet) and use of coin-operated washers and dryers. Kitchens are equipped with dishes and other kitchen utensils.
