Volunteering with Indian NGOs

NewBeginnings Charitable Trust (NCT) has been hosting and coordinating International volunteers since 2009. NCT provides volunteering opportunity to international volunteers to work within our projects and / also placing them with the partner ngos across India. NCT has developed a large network of partner ngos with whom, volunteers are placed for volunteering. NCT remains the primary hosting organization while volunteers are placed in different projects implemented by the partner ngos. We work directly with the local organizations so that volunteers make a real difference in the lives of local people and children. The scope of our projects extends to various developmental programmes implemented by our project partners across India. Since we have project partner spread across India, the scope and size of our projects and the expertise in our own projects is professional. Most of our project partners have been involved in training other ngos involved in similar kind of programmes implementations. Moreover, NewBeginnings, as hosting organization, follows clearly laid down guidelines to accept and recruit an ngo as our project partner to place our volunteers with the organization.

We work in specific social context of diverse cultural background that calls for specific approach in implementing programmes. We have the advantage of having projects located in different geographical areas reaching out to different religious and cultural backgrounds added to the diversified demographics situation. Our project partners have been involved in implementing projects related to children, women, school teaching, child trafficking, street children, child labourers, children with disability, HIV/AIDS, youth groups, women groups, destitute women homes, socially and economically backward groups, etc. Moreover, every project partner organization has been professionally trained and are aware of the demand that we as hosting organization expect from them in the course of placing a volunteer with them. As a hosting organization, we comply with the programme guidelines of Erasmus+. NewBeginninsg has been hosting volunteers from weltwärts- A volunteer project that has been initiated and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign and Economic Cooperation (BMZ). Our long hosting as well as coordinating experiences of international volunteers from different European countries has surely made us gain expert professional experiences in the course of time as we are in the profession since late 2009.
Volunteers are exposed to the diversified Indian socio-economic cultures at the grassroots level to enable them to understand the Indian developmental scenario. In the process of Inter-cultural learning, an European volunteer is given greater possibilities to learn and understand the Indian society and contribute to its development in the process. NCT provides a unique experience to every European volunteer volunteering with us. Such unique learning experiences are only possible in India and this will surely enhance the capacity of a volunteer to understand the world in its inclusiveness. The kind of working realities will surely be an immense help in the learning process and understand how children from ‘other world’ survive and live in a socially and economically congested situation.
