Descriere program
Sneakers are no longer “lowly” fashion items as can be seen through partnerships between Stella McCartney and Adidas as well as New Balance and Kate Spade. These shoes have even made their way onto high fashion catwalks. They are a way for designers to explore medical systems, technology, and fashion.
Participants of this program will be immersed in the worlds of predicting, designing, producing, and programing wearable technology for sneakers. You will be placed in the Netherlands in the village of Waalwijk. This is a hub for manufacturing and footwear education. This is the where the Shoes, Leather, Education, Museum (SLEM), an innovative education institute, is located. Participants will engage in visits to galleries and museums, factories, and design studios. Lectures will be the foundation of this course and the curriculum covers footwear design from the region, materials, and methods. Students will go on excursions to the Shoe or No Shoe Museum in Belgium to learn about fashion, technology, architecture, and art.
